The month of April has sure been one to remember as far as weather. It seams as though we’ve seen all 4 seasons in april, snow, hail, wind, and some days with summer like conditions. Despite the weather, the month of April has been a very productive month for sturgeon fishing. With average fish days ranging from 8-15 fish with some days seeing over 20 fish to the boat per day. The average size of fish are generally 3-5 feet in April which make for a great fight, but we’ve had many fish in the 6-8 foot range.
Water levels remain lower than average for this time of year due to a late spring run off, so fishing conditions remain very good. I imagine we will start to see some heavy runoff once we hit mid May which will make for some tougher conditions for a few weeks. With some large summer salmon runs forecasted for this year, we expect sturgeon fishing to be great for the summer and continue through the late fall months. We have seen an increase in bookings for summer and fall so if you’d like to reserve some prime dates, better to book sooner than later!
